Band and Crew Tour Itineraries

Also known as Tour Books we get regular queries on exactly what these unique items of Rock Memorabilia are and why they demand such good prices

They are a working document consisting of one sheet to many pages issued to Artist, Crew, Management and anyone else who needs to know the real details concerning a gig or tour. They typically contain lists of tour personnel, contact information, details of travel, venue and hotel arrangements. Some also provide local information such as maps, restaurants, taxis, local customs/laws and things to see/do.

Each one is different, generally the bigger the Artist or Tour the more information - some even have tour rules - the Ozzy Osbourne rules are priceless.

The information is very sensitive so they are issued on a need to know basis and we suspect that some are collected at the end of the tour judging by the fact that itineraries for certain bands never show up unless they come directly from band members or management.

Consequently they are issued in very low numbers, don't come to the market very often and are highly sought after collectables. Values can be anywhere from modest to eyewatering, we have sold a Deep Purple, Ian Gillan owned one from the Battle Rages on Tour, when Blackmore left for the final time, with annotations concerning this handwritten by Gillan himself for a considerable amount.

Early ones from the 60s and 70s are quite scarce as they were generally used and discarded so expect to pay a premium for these, especially for the more collectable bands.

There are plenty of counterfeits out there particularly for the bigger bands as they were generally put together by the management team using photocopies and binders - provenance is important to ensure you buy a genuine authentic copy. You should always buy from good sources and look for signs of use - wear and tear, annotations etc and if possible tie in the owner to someone listed in the itinerary itself. Anything that looks like it was printed yesterday most probably was. We only buy in large quantities where we can trace back the source so you can buy with confidence from us and with our lifetime authenticity warranty you can't go wrong.

We have over 60 in the shop including this incredibly rare Iron Maiden one Iron Maiden Sampson Parsons Itinerary Early Days October 1979 - December 1979 (rockmemorabilia.com) and over 250 waiting to be listed so check out our itineraries Itineraries - Page 1 - RockMemorabilia.com

If you attended one of the gigs this is a great addition to your collection of ticket, poster, flyer, passes and other merchandise and can give you a bit of inside knowledge of which hotels they tended to use back in the day - maybe they still do?
